I bought a couple of Kato DC E9's. I was just going to aim to put a dcc decoder in them, but then I saw this. Do you think it would ONLY involve switching the boards?

It pretty much is that easy EXCEPT for the small size you are working with. And it involves using some insulating tape in a couple places...unless MRC has changed that. MRC doesn't have the highest quality boards, but it was what I could afford at the time.

I tried them in my two Kato PA-1s and got smoke twice. Something was touching somewhere that shouldn't have. Being expensive by then, I ended up sending them to Mike Fifer of Fifer Hobby, and he put them in along with new brighter LED lights. They work fine now. Good luck. :smilie_daumenpos:
