Can any one tell me what I have to do to figure out how to build a 6-degree curve on my layout, and how to build a 1.2% grade. Does the curve degree have anything to do with how high off the layout the outer radius is off the layout? I'll be using a 22" radius curve on this section, modelling in HO. Thanks for any help. oldsteamer4.

Not sure what you mean by a 6 degree curve. Do you mean having the outer rail elevated to 6 degrees superelevation? If so, your train won't stay on the rails. Use a thin shim of cardboard under the outer rail to superelevate it. Superelevation isn't really needed on a model railroad. Our trains don't go fast enough around curves to need it.
