Track has power, tender is chugging. Is there a harness from tender to engine?
Make sure it is plugged in all the way. Try to jiggle the plug. Look for switches
on bottom turning something off. Read the manual, you might find somethng.

I am thinking its a lion chief because it has an fcc label inside the cab and there is no reverse lock switch. Do I have to have the remote to switch it to conventional power or can I use a bluetooth device?

Hey, you said you bought it "new," and all new engines that I know of come in some kind of a box. People here are trying to help you and need a little more info to do so. Engines with the #1225, that can be seen on the side, come in a wide variety of models made by various manufacturers. Maybe you could ask the seller if he/she remembers anything specific to the model you purchased. If not, maybe you should either return it or take it to a local hobby shop or club and someone there might be able to help you identify the engine and diagnose the problem.

For example, if you have the variety known as a Lionchief, you need a power wart and a special remote to run it, not a CW80. Good luck with your search.

box

Chuck, shipper said he was saving money on shipping by using a smaller box. Another ebay rape story. Not new like the guy said. Took to train store 2hrs from house. said its been into and needs remote. Its a lionchief. Even if I get the remote it may not work. The train store had a test track with power on it, like my cw80 so I would imagine I could use it as a "wall wart" or use accessories output on the pack. a/c is a/c, nothing special about it.

File a complaint with ebay. Give it back?
