I have installed a tsunami decoder on to my On30 Bachman shay and video taped the whole thing.

I have not found anything like this anyplace so I decided to share this with everyone so that you to can instal a decoder as well.

I hope that you find this helpful.

I am not a pro so please don't berate me for not having a professional video. At least I have tried. If anyone wants to give me a proper camcorder I will be happy to make better videos.

As it is I am using a camera in video mode and it is ok but not great.
Go to my main page and scroll down to the date "Saturday May 16th 2009" for the links to it.

Anyhow, for those who want this help it is here for you.

Enjoy :)

What a great idea!
I started watching out of curiosty. I thought the camera clarity was great. On this Forum you are in new territory with instructional video. Congrats to that. I like the fact that the camera didn't move.Just thinking about what you are trying to do you really have to do it twice. Once, the way you did it the second time with close ups. Then edit it. This is just my first impression. Thanks for the posting.

T-man, I would love to do fancy stuff but this is just a camera that shoots bad video. 15 frames per second actually. Like I stated, if anyone has an old camcorder they want to donate, I would be happy to do fancy stuff.
As for doing it twice LOL. They cost too dang much [the Shay and decoder] to do that :p LOL
I am glad you liked it. :)

John thanks for your comments. :)

I think the video cameras are over rated. Light sensitivety and zoom being the their best features. Both unecessary for trains. My camera does just fine with movies and I get over 30 min with 2 gig.
For two times, I meant that you go and do close ups of all the parts and go back and insert them ( edit) instead of using one angle.
I think this was a great idea. I couldn't do something straight through and not edit. Sort of like the old live television shows. The possibilties are endless,I would drop, crack, break, scratch, burn or fry something. Colorfull langage can be so common but not necessary here.:)

Tman, editing this is difficult because of the format [MOV] and also because it is 15 frames per second. Plus a couple of other things. Anyhow, using a proper camcorder would allow me to do many of things you suggest a LOT easier.
So it still stands that I will accept any ones old camcorder :D:D:D

Tman, just to make you feel better I have NEVER installed a decoder before. This was my very first one :D
And yes I did it is one shot like you seen :D Fell better now? LOL
And yes a lot can go wrong which is why I did it live to show the good AND the bad. This way newbies like me know what they are getting into :D
