Have an older Texas Special with no E unit.

Is it possible to put one on with only a two wire stator coil?

My other diesel that has an E unit has a four wire coil.

I do have the proper two position E Unit that these units used.

Any wiring diagrams out there? I spent an hour googling, but, no luck.

You can't use the two-position E-Unit, as it requires the split field coil. However, a standard 3-position E-Unit will work.

Of course, you could also use an electronic E-Unit, the Dallee #400 is a good choice, it handles AC or DC motors.

Thanks, I was starting to suspect that.

Is there a schematic of how a standard reversing Texas Special (sounds like the pickups on my Tele) is wired up? I'll probably rewind the coil as a split-coil.
