I have a Tyco Chattanooga Choo Choo. The pinion on the motor broke loose and would no longer line up with the rest of the gears. From what I have heard this is a common issue on many Tyco locos. To fix this I just put the pinion back into its proper location. The to hold it in this spot I placed solder on the shaft behind the pinion. This keeps it from sliding outward away from the gears. I have run it for about two hours after this repair and so far so good.
