I have the opportunity to start a New Club in Western N. Carolina, in the town of Morganton. My wife works for independently owned pharmacy that has a large room down stairs that is vacant, and the owner has agreed to let me/us start a large layout club for a very low price. There is access to 2 bathrooms, and has plenty of parking space, along with a door to the outside, which is also ground level (no steps to climb).

If you live in the surrounding area, ie: Lenoir, Morganton, Hickory, Glen Alpine, Valdese, Marion, or any other small town in this area, and are looking to build a layout, and like me just dont have the room or know-how. Please PM me with info of how to get ahold of you.

There is going to be some rules layed down from the very start. I would rather open this only to adults for the time-being, as how I want to gather a great group of Men/Women that have charactor and a sense of how great an opportunity this is. We also can meet about any evening we wish.

I have already started with the Proto-type of Clinchfield, and Southern RR's, as how this is the RR's that run thru this area, and what "most of us" model.

You can also Email me, at... [email protected]

THANKS, Kevin

Good for you!

Hey Kevin,
First off sorry I'm in Wisconsin and that doesn't help!:D Sounds like you have a great location and if your rent is cheap the better for it. Ground level, ample parking, plenty of space....good start. If you are close to your LHS ask the owner if you can post a flyer... and see if anyone bites. Are there a lot of smaller towns in your area? We have a local club that just started about 6 months ago.....and I never knew about it until last week....news travels slowly in these part...must be winter or the state of Wisconsin! Get your word out there and I'm sure there are people you never dreamed were into Model railroading. Good luck and keep us posted... a noble effort!

That pretty much all we have here in the Foothills/Mt's. Small towns, lol. You know, the ones with the city limits sign on both sides of the pole! hehe.. I kind of like it that way. Charlotte is the largest city close to me, about 1 1/2hrs away

I have now gave up on the idea. BUT, on a great note, I have joined the P&W RR club in Valdese, NC. It is kind of a fictious RR, but modeled after the W. NC around the Clinchfield and Southern, right up my alley, lol.

Anyway, thanks for the few that had even posted up.
