Hey everyone! Hope all is well with you and yours.

We broke out the passenger set recently - Besides one of the couplers being completely broke off... but thats a story for another day, I got to thinking about getting new/better trucks & wheels. I also contemplated adding lights inside most of the cars (its a 8 piece set). Upon inspection, I have plastic trucks with metal wheels and axles. From the pictures below, you will notice the peg holding the trucks on is not a screw (?) and is also off-set.

I don't have a terribly specific question, just wondering what you folks thought and what my options are.

leave it the way it is, its not worth the trouble and/or expense?
just add the lights and leave everything else alone?
get better 'whatevers' if I can find 'em, haven't been made in decades?

If adding the lights, I will follow this:

I have messed around with adding wipes on trucks. The best way is a kit that has the wiper and axles. You use a screw to replace the plastic to get the power inside and then wire from there. Don't let the offset bother I did an Athearn blue box with the same trucks. I was lucky with that Northern it was all set on the trucks.

Since you have an offset you would use the other screw hole for the wiper.

Making a wiper or driling a hole for it is no fun.

Makes perfect sense! thanks, in one small post you filled in the missing pieces of the puzzle. I'll stop by the hobby store tonight and see if they have those kits.

And for everyones enjoyment, an unrelated but nice train picture.

Update:
light kits at the hobby store: $12.95 each. NICE sets, but more then I need. And with 5-6 cars in the set needing lights - out of my budget.

After a few days of looking, found a pack of wipers only on line - got 2 packs (total of 12 wipers) for about 8 bucks (shipping - what can you do) :eyes:

I'll post results.
