Is there a way to program the headlight to always be on? I have several bachmann steamers with the Tsunami OEM decoders and a few Tsunami2 TSU-1100. Would like to have the headlights on all the time as soon as it powers up.

You normally can with most decoders. I use jmri to make life a lot easier though. Couldn’t tell you what cv it is but I know you can with all the digitrax decoders and the few tsunami I have dealt with. I tried on a couple of bachmann spectrum factory decoders and they seem pretty basic and you can’t change a whole lot with those. Hope this helps

It may be the 'enable lighting output direction' CVs, 57 and 58 on the decoder I'm looking at now. I'll read some more and then test, and report back.

Table G. CVs 57-58 Values Lighting Output CV Value
Headlight +1 to enable
Backup Light +2 to enable
FX3 Output +4 to enable
FX4 Output +8 to enable
FX5 Output +16 to enable
FX6 Output +32 to enable

Just leave F0 on.
You can also go to mapping in the JMRI Decoderpro and set the forward light to be on when the loco is in reverse. I do that so my rear of train DPUs show a light while pushing.

For info, it doesn't appear to be cv57-58. The default was set to 253 for cv57. I set it to 1 with no effect so I put it back to 253. If/when I get back to testing I will post back.
