I want to make several trees. I would rather make them and spend the money on rolling stock at this point. Does anyone have a good how to to do this? I am looking for all types. Summer colors. Currently I have only two very sad looking pines in my layout and they just are not enough.

I use weeds and flocking. I use a woody weed, roll in glue and then roll in flocking.
