Could someone please help me to identify the locomotive on the picture below. This photo is all I have and I need to know the brand/make of the locomotive so I could search the net for blueprints or better/different angle pictures of the locomotive. I have to build a 3D model of the locomotive - quite difficult task if I only have this photo as a reference. Thanks so much!

Boy, this is a toughie... Do you happen to know what railroad the switcher (the general type of this locomotive) is from? Based on all of my searching, I am coming up with it definitely being an EMD switcher, but I can not find an exact match... The EMD SW1000 is the closest thing I could find to the image you pictured... The EMD SW1500 is also somewhat close, but it has two smoke stacks instead of one...

Wow, that was fast :) Thanks a lot, Boston&Maine, that's an excellent point to start my search from :) Unfortunately I have no clue about the company that operates the locomotive (if I have understood your question correctly). I'm almost certain that this photo has been taken in NYC... and I can also see a big blue letter M on the side.
Anyway, I have googled for SW 1000 and 1500 and I have found a few pictures which (although do not look exactly the same) are quite close to the locomotive on the reference photo... and that's a big help. Thank you so much!

Well the bell and stack appear like a SW -7. The front Lights look like the SW 1500 but not exact. Your switcher is definitely smaller/older.
EMD Link I used.
Penn used a lot pehaps something can be found with that road name.
