I did my first complete rebuild i mean paint replace revits new wires etc etc. Put everything back. On bench works pretty good smokes great. Issue soon as i put it on my lay out does not work good shuts off then on. I did notice a lot of sparks under tender. I think thats the problem but why. Any ideas would be grateful thanks al.

I'm an HO guy so no experience with your AF loco...
However, if the tender is used for power pickup, you may have one truck turned around on the tender. Some locos use the drawbar as
a power carrier, if so, it may be shorting to something.

I would bet on loose white insulators..Check them really good!! I've had this problem many times until I learned to run the engine on the lay-out, not just bench test. I would also check your rivets, washers, etc., for proper installation. You may need to install new metal wheels on your tender trucks.
