My somewhat local hobby store ( one hour away) is having a sale this weekend. As I really don't know what to pay for engines. I am asking for your help.
I can have a Model Power 0-4-0 Shifter&Tender 96636 for $14.99
A Like Life GP38 High Nose 08073 for $19.99
or a Bachmann Spectrum SD-45 with DCC 82713 for $59.99 is this a good deal? I need new engines should I spend my money? Does anyone have these engines? How do thet run? Am I wasting my money? My cash is really tight right now.

If you think I can find better deals or better engines for the money, please let me know

Well the first two sound like a Steal to me, the Bachmann Spectrum isn't bad either. I don't have any of them but at the prices listed I would say you couldn't go wrong for NEW locos at that price. Life Like is now made by Walthers and aren't bad engines, even the older ones that were still made by LL, the details won't be up to a Atlas or KAto but not a bad buy they will run pretty well. Steamers not familiar with at all, but I know the N Scalers like their locos. Bachmann SPectrum are pretty good locos also. I had an SD45 Bachmann and in my opinion it ran better than a SD45 Athearn Genisis that I had at the same time. SO once again not bad purchases and to come with DCC. COOL!!
So there you have it my two bits; hpe it helps you decide

Never been there, I prefer to stay off long island it is a pain in the caboose getting there. I like to stay in westchester/rockland but don't mind taking the trip to CT or PA.

PA is actually easier to get to for me LOL

The store has two locations one in Middletown and the other in New Britain The name is Amato's Toy and Hobby. Both stores are about 10,000sqft and keep a heavy amount of trains in stock. I take it you think the prices are good?

Chris...

I just ordered (online) a Bachmann Spectrum Dash-8 loco w/DCC for the same price...$59.99. From what I understand, the Spectrum line is supposed to be a great one! In my opinion, that is a GREAT price for that calibur of train with DCC! I own several plain ol' Bachmann's and have never had any trouble with them. Good luck!

I would just like to take a trip. The prices seem good. Have you been to the shops in Danbury? Are they nice?
