Sorry. The add you insert into the middle of your video for the Ridge Wallet is a huge turnoff for me. I used to enjoy your videos. Now I know they are just self serving, and I will no longer watch them.

Everything is smothered in ads these days, so I just abide with them and enjoy the video when the "meat" shows up.
DJ, thanks for linking these on the Model Train Forum. Such amazing videos!!

Ok, so think about this: I drove from pittsburgh to Bethlehem and back (4 hours there , 5 hours home due to traffic). Thats 9 hours. 223 miles one way x2 = 450 miles, plus I paid turnpike tolls, and obviously took a day off of work. I edited hours and hours more. Now so you can imagine all the expense it was for me to create this video (oh, 29.95 a month for premiere pro editing). So after google takes half my ad revenue, I made $15. on this video. And you got to see the only drone footage of this place for free, yes, free, and you complained that you had to fast forward through 60 seconds of an ad where I save you another 40% off a phenomenal product I use everyday. Does this say something about you or me?

It says something about me. I'm unapologetic about it, though. I meant no insult, just wanted you to know that I'm, personally, not in favor of people posting on forums just to further their own gain. I love your videos, but If you're just out to make money or for the notoriety, then I'm out.

Also, if you're posting here, trying to market your videos, paying for a premium membership would be a nice way to support the forums.

I have a 15 commercial contract with ridge through this year but will probably make 50 videos a year, so it's not every video. Honestly, what people say they like about my videos is that they can feel my enthusiasm. If you watched a lot of my videos, I add humor. I used to be a wedding DJ and when I retired, I missed making people laugh, so I do it on my vids. Also, I kinda get child like excitement from seeing new things with the drone, so I get excited to show what I discovered too. I'll never be rich, started at $0 8 years ago after the divorce, and now I'll soon have a kid in college. Feels like everyday is a struggle to break even. Noteriety? I flew a thousand miles and spent a thousand dollars to attend a YouTube meet and greet in Denver on for these assholes to want to make fun of my height before I even landed.

I love your videos, Ken. And I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm. Your add is the issue, at least for me it is. I felt like you were trying to scare me into buying that wallet for fear of identity theft. There are lots of wallets that have built in RFID security. There's literally nothing special about that wallet, other than the gimmick of the way it's built. I have no use for a hard-sided wallet.

You say, in your add, in your own words, that your friend "could be the victim of a digital pick pocketer unless he gets the Ridge Wallet which has that RFID technology which prevents digital pickpocketing."

I have issues with that. Tremendously misleading. First, there are thousands upon thousands of wallets that have RFID shields built into them (and not that many are as gimmicky as Ridge). Second, NONE of them "will prevent" anything... They CAN, or MIGHT prevent something. but to say "which prevents" is incorrect.

So I'm not here to argue. I just want you to know that, while I do really appreciate your videos, I will not support something like what you're doing. Sorry, I'm not sorry.

I learned about djstrains on this forum and I'm glad I did. I have enjoyed the videos that I've watched, especially about his experiences as a train engineer.

I don't think we should punish the content creator in this case. YouTube and other sites offer a platform for someone to be creative. In this case it's providing information. They also provide those creators the ability to monetize their efforts. I see nothing wrong with that. Whether it's directly through YouTube commercials or a digression from within a video, it's just part of the online world these days. There is a lot of effort in creating videos.

That said, I will always fast forward, if I can, through those sections and will hardly believe that the creators actually use the product prior to being an endorser. But that's not the point.

Keep the videos coming!

I just want to say that I appreciate your videos' DJ. I've been watching them for probably a year and have found them very helpful. I am in the process of building my first layout, so I always go back to a related video when I'm at a certain point. Whether it be scenery, tracklaying, DCC, really anything!

I'm happy that you were offered a sponsorship, as I don't see many MRR YouTube channels actually receiving an opportunity like this. Jimmy from DIY and Digital Railroad is an exception I believe. 🙂 Anyways, as @howaboutme said "Keep the videos coming", I concur with this statement.

Watching your video again reminds me that I should invest in a drone. I'm thinking about getting the DJI Mini 2. It's $600 for the Fly More Combo, but I think it would make a great railfanning accessory! I already purchased a phone gimbal/stabilizer from DJI, so I think this would be a wise purchase considering how reputable the brand is (in my experience). Hope I didn't hi-jack your thread with my off-topic spew of words... 😉
