I received a Bachmann GE 44 tonner new in box of EBay cheep. Upon receiving it I was disappointed at just how light the little engine is. On my flat loop I have an issue loosing traction on 18 degree turns pulling 4 Athern box cars. The cars are on the light side IMHO since they have no additional weight added. I had wanted to use this for a MOW train but it cannot pull more than four cars, there are currently five with two more being built for the MOW.

I would simply remove the shell and see if some peel and stick weights could be added. It's a quite small unit and I would guess that Bachmann didn't bother to add the proper amount of weight. Should be easily rectified. I have a Trackmobile that I had to do the same thing to, and it's smaller than your 44T
Once this is accomplished it should be a good runner my N scle 44t is.

Another option is to add traction tires to it which might help. There also cheap enough to be worth a try.

I am through the break in and there is still the same problem, the wheels loose traction. I think I will try and add weight if I can find a place to do it. I do not like the idea of traction tires. I like the idea of knowing that if it gets stuck on something it will not burn out the motor or strip gears.
