I have been buying some NYC K-Line heavyweight cars recently. They are for the most part, fixer uppers. The body’s are fine but the diaphragms for the ends are usually missing or rotted.

I bought 20 rubber vestibules from Lionel during the recent parts sale. Of course they didn’t fit the K-Line cars without modifying them slightly.

Basically I trimmed the bottom 1/4 inch of the innermost rubber fold. The sides and top snapped right in. Then I added a drop of ACC to the bottom of the diaphragm to hold it in place.

It seems to work well...
