Hi guys.

I'm going to start a new HO layout in a 16 x 8 room that I'm going to construct inside my pole barn, the table will go around the whole room all sections will be no more then 24" wide, does anyone have any ideals on how to lift the table out of the door way ,and then back again...

Any help

Thanks

Herb...my layout is also in my pole barn. I don't know too much about swing-away sections...some like them to lift up and others like them to swing down.

I was mostly curious about the width of the section that swings away. Would you have it be as wide as the rest of the layout (24" or so)...or would it be a narrow width (say the width of an HO bridge)?

I would think as long as it is a straight section, you could just keep it to the width of a HO Bridge. Or were you asking what he was wanting... if so, my bad.

I was just thinking if he had it 24" wide, he could even have scenery on it...maybe even more than one track. If one did it right, you could make a removable transfer table out of it. It could just be one track wide, and you could slide it along to match other tracks (almost like a turntable). Seems to me you could practically have a yard right there if you wanted. You could just lift it out and hang it on a hook when you want to leave the room. One has to make sure you leave plenty of wire going to it when you power it.

I would think the possibilities are endless.

Hey Brad...I was just kind of brainstorming as I went along. I have an eight-foot long 2x4 connecting two parts of my layout. It isn't removable, or even on a hinge...it is screwed in solid. The 2x4 sits on edge, and the trains ride across on the 1 1/2" wide part. I have a rail on each side running all the way across so trains can't fall off of course.
