I recently purchased a C Liner Proto 1000 A and B combo, both units are powered. The A unit you can barely hear run, the B unit is a little noisy similar to an older lifelike engine. Engine runs perfect and pulls anything I can hook up to it, just noisy. Wondering if there is any reason for concern?

Other than the noise, the 2 engines running together pulled 30 cars up an 8% grade with no problem. Very powerful engines.

if they are brand new engines. let em run in for a bit. it should wear in. then check lube. if it doesn't stop making the noise after a few hours then its not normal.

My brother in law gave me a LifeLike/Walthers Proto. Had the same problem, a little noisy at first, but now just as quiet as can be. So far this is the best loco I have.
I agree with what has already been said, let it run for a while and see what happens.

Sounds like thats what I need to do, I have about 2 hours of run time on it right now and it does seem a little quieter than at first.
