Anyone have a wiring schematic for this engine and what are the tabs under the engine.

There's several variations of the 671. Here's one depicted below. Go to Olsen's archive for post war loco.'s and scroll down to view the all 671 versions.

The picture above is correct that is the 1947 and on.
The poster ennisdavis engine shown is of the 1947and up as well.

The other one is a 1 year only 671 made in 1946 and it is a double worm drive unlike the above and a smoke bulb unit .

The posts hold the engine in. The washers help the ground contact or help position the motor and gear contact.
