Seems the BASE3 won't be here as soon as we thought...
In another venue, Dave Olsen said:

"Working diligently on it. I had hoped it be delivered last month, but development challenges prevented that. Targeting 3rd quarter of this year. Same with the Cab3 APP. Makes sense to launch it when the Base3 ships."

I say a prayer everytime I power up my layout that the Cab2/base power up and I don't have to send to Lionel hoping they still have parts and still accepting them for repair. I really don't want to buy a Base 3 if I can help it.

Sucks for those without full command waiting for this thing.

I would be one of those without full command waiting for the Cab 3 because I refuse to pay the tripple inflated prices for a cab 2 set. Got a Base 1L/Cab1L used to try and hold me over until they finally release.

I have a TMCC set with a controller, Cab1. I also have the 990 set, unopened and unused I bought a couple years ago. I don’t have a layout yet, but by the time I get a chance to build one, I suppose I will be exploring the Base/Cab 3 setup…

Well, my 25 year old CAB-1 finally gave up the ghost last month so now I just run my locomotives with the Universal remote. The Universal remote does a pretty good job for what it is. However, my still in the box CAB-1L awaits, lonely for the CAB-3. Sigh...

Tom, open that puppy up and test it! Now's the time to get any free repairs you need!

What do I use to take advantage of the features of these new O gauge trains then? The old App doesn't, correct?
FWIW, the iCab app, which is available for free on the App Store, accesses nearly all Legacy functions (it doesn't, for example, replicate the brake slider) and adds some controls that aren't available via the CAB-2 remote. BUT--in order to use it, you still need a #992 Command Base and a LCS WiFi Module. The WiFi Module can be found at a reasonable price; the Command Base, of course, like the CAB-2, is a different story.
