I picked up a Lionel TMCC D&H RS11 recently. I have a small fleet of D&H stuff including a MTH RS3 and another Lionel C420 that is on the way from out west somewhere.

Of course I wanted a caboose to go with it. I found an older MTH Northeastern type caboose. It is very correct for a D&H hack except the real ones has round end windows in the car body, while the MTH model has square windows. I can live with that...lol.

A couple pics of the real ones too...

Thanks guys. I can’t wait to run them!

Jeff, your tweaking makes the engine look like a true Alco! Cool.

Nothing crazy either!! On most the TMCC engines the resistors had socks on them, cut that off!! Then for some reason the resistors are bent towards the board. Straighten it out so it gets into the bowl! Finally, just open up the air inlet hole as large as you can without hitting the electrical run. And of course, pull out that nasty batting and replace with the puffed up Lionel wick!!

The Sharks were really spiffed up by the D&H. They were ex-NYCS (Montour) units that arrived at the D&H in the old, crusty black scheme of the NYC cigar band scheme.

I think they are stored up in Michigan now...

Yes, some were grey, some engines had silver trucks and under frames. Both colors were subject to being obliterated by dirt from use....

Thanks Patrick.

Most of my exposure to the D&H was in Buffalo, at SK yard. Later, when my brother lived in Delhi, NY, we used to travel over to Oneonta and check out the yard. The wreck train was still there, painted bright blue and yellow...

About 8 months back I found an old deteriorating D & H RS-3 sitting on an abandoned industrial spur in Watervliet near the Arsenal. I had to do a double - take to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
It wasn't in too bad shape either. I passed by again before the holidays and it's gone!
Wish I knew where. :(
