I have a Lionel 2353 powered unit but it has no place for the horn. Is the horn supposed to be in the dummy a unit? I believe it is but am reading conflicting info from various sites. I also have a "b" unit that matches it except it has screen vent instead of the molded louvers which means 2343 "b" unit to me. Any identification help on Santa Fe F-3s would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
This was the last 2353 thread just recently.
If you go to his photobucket you will see the 2353T This dummy unit has the horn,as proof it has pickups for the center rail.

I am not an F-3 expert. I like steam more. I do have the 2333 A that carries a horn. I did book digging and found you are correct 2343C with a screen to match the 2343 and 2333. They has glued portholes.

So We are talking about a B unit with no cab, Lionel designated as 2343C.
The book has no say on horns.

The SS pictures show the powered A units as 2353 P, the dummy as 2353 T.
Enjoy them, I hope this helped.

I use the Doyle Book from 1945 to 1969. but online has a postwar reference

Hi T-Man,

Thanks for the help. I have been studying and observing pictures of the F-3s and their permutations, but they do not seem to be consistent. I know I have seen dummy units with the horn in them so this is what I have to locate now.

Thanks,
