My father bought the full 1976 Freedom Train set (lionel O scale I believe) in 1976. He has kept them all in the boxes for the last 33 years. These are fairly large trains. He was asking me about the value of these trains over the last few weeks. Being a forumer I decided to seek out and ask the experts. He has tons of other trains that are all between 30 and 50 years old. But lets start with this first question and work our way up.

Welcome to the forum! The Freedom Train is a cool set... I did some searching, but you did not give me too much to go on... Is this the set your father has?

Yes. That exact set but with more cars. So a good guess is that they are worth a few hundred dollars give or take a few bucks. I did a search on Ebay but I did a "freedom train" search which came back with only HO scale. I appreciate your help. After using your search, I was able to get a feel for prices. Seems like it's an underappreciated hobby. But one that I enjoyed as a child and I know my father enjoys.
