this is some really cheap late marx stuff, cars are simple plastic shells with two axles. the caboose has a single coupler to prevent its use as rolling stock. a simple albeit crude method to install a rear coupler. quick and dirty but works perfectly and gives you a piece of rolling stock, not just a caboose...

MARX CABOOSE SAVE

Good simple straight forward idea for mounting a rear Marx knuckle coupler to a 4 wheel caboose. Personally I have about 15-20 elderly Marx cabooses each having the full frame & flip couplers that have very very bad shells on them. If I come across a nice 4 wheel caboose with no chip or dings I will modify that shell to fit the Flip coupler equipped frame. I just score the fake plastic trucks a few times along the bottom of the shell with a stout razor knife. Then just pop off the fake plastic trucks. There may be some slight cleanup needed at the parting line. The knuckle coupler stanchion will have to be shortened some so the frame will fit correctly. Cheap fix either way one would want to proceed. Another Great, gets one to thinking, video from Benz.
