Just a thought but maybe there may be interest in a scratch build in the forum. It could maybe include Kitbashing some examples, suggestions and such, or questions. It really sounds like a lot of you do your share of this. Just a thought to run up the flagpole . . . Count me as interested.

Grand idea!!! I've scratch built some and kitbashed some engines for authenticity. But usually just "run 'em like I got 'em". My Nickel Plate diesels are "road authentic", but few else are.

I scratch built about 5 buildings on my layout. A house, a barn, tool sheds, and a freight house. Not much talent needed for any of them actually.

Well I can do whatever works with no problems I just thought it might be a place to put some new type ideas. I am currently researching building a logging donkey, a belt driven sawmill and I started the planning to cut down a tender to match ups sizewise with a small steam switcher I have. I also saw some interesting things at the train show with early 1900 oil fields and cable driven dunking pumps. would things like these all go into structures? It just seemed like something that would be fun and interesting. A place where people who really like to try and build from scratch could bounce out ideas and suggestions maybe ask for help. But I do not want to offend or step on anyones toes.

I think that kit bashing stuff should go in the Railway Structures Forum, but if you think that it needs a more specific forum then PM TwoRail...

The Railway Structures Forum would be my pick. It is under used as is. I would like to see more stuff on scratch built and kit bashing. After I finish my the Bridge, trussel, tunnel, track that I am working on, I want to build a town.

I don't mind creating a sub-forum underneath Railway Structures for this, but you guys HAVE to post in it :)

If you don't feel there is sufficient interest to do it now, we can always continue to use the RS forum and then if there are enough scratch building posts we can move them into a new forum.

Let me know what you want to do.

just a thought. Drop the word railway in railway structures forum. Any structure that I build is going to end up on my railway lay out even if it is a barn with headless chicken and cow that give chocolate milk.

Hi I think the overall reaction is to leave things as they are and I am fine with that. I think that we should forget it for now and if there is a huge surge in unusual kitbashing or scratch building take it up again. Just do not be surprized if there are some unusual kinds of projects there. I will post things there.
