I'm building a military train using 1/64 Armored vehicles. I haven't received the models yet, waiting from ebay.. I'm using 6 flyer flat cars with the old, non-weighted link couplers. I've changed most of them out to knuckle and weighted link couplers, depending on any problems I've had to deal with during any trial runs of the cars. Shown are the 6 flats. Each wheel was removed from the axles and polished. The axles showed quite a bit of rust so they're soaking in a glass of evapo-rust. After 24 hours they look good, but I'll let them soak another 24-48 hours, I'm in no hurry. I'll then chuck them up in my drill press and remove any other defects, and give them a polishing with some 2000 wet/dry paper. I have OD military paint that I'll spray the flat cars with, and also I plan on polishing the trucks and journals.

A good start. What will you use to keep the vehicles in place? I’ve been using chocks that I copied from Lee Willis. A ¼ scale 12x12 with a scale 2x12 glued to it. Held to the flatcar with double stick tape.

I like that half-track sporting a 105mm howitzer, very familiar with the 105mm. I plan on using a small sheet metal screw inserted from the under-side up into the model. I ordered from "Green-Light" models, it was a Sherman with the dozer blade, but I want to get the landing tank with the tall intakes, and the missile/rocket firing system.

If you remove the blade two will fit on the gray chassis flat car. It is ok if the tank body overhangs the chassis by 1/4". I do not recognize that black chassis. It appears to be 1946 or 1947. I do not recall a chassis that short with that shape.

Yep, it seems to fit better. I ordered about 7 more vehicles last night.
I think they could have used a Camo paint job when they built them.
But that is me.
I would paint all the flat cars Camo too. (y)

You could add one more Jeep to the car, make it three, it would hide the truck hole on the top.
