To all,
Good day, never had a train set growing up, how sad is that. A friend from church gave me a post war set his dad had so I cleaned lubricated and put new cord on it.
engine runs great. My question to anyone out there is this.
The whistle blows ok BUT when I move the whistle stick to maximum throw the whistle just stops, as though I turned it off.
If I move the stick back a little bit it works fine. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Are you testing it with the locomotive and tender on the track, or just bench testing the tender only sitting there. I believe the circuit is dependent on having a load pulling on it in order to stay latched and might not work properly with just the tender alone. Have you replaced the rectifier disc with a diode yet? I am actually in the same process with my 1033. There are actually a couple of active threads in this section right now about this very subject.

Diabolik,
Holy Mackerel, it works!
I put both the engine and tender on the test track and right away, IT WORKS GREAT!
Thank you so much for your help.:)(y)🚦
You're welcome. Only passing along what I have learned in my brief stint here from some very helpful folks. I wish mine were so easy. Mine didn't work at all, I did the diode upgrade and it worked great for about 30 minutes and the diode exploded. 😁 I am glad yours is working!
