Neat review Lee, glad to see that this Lionel steamer exceeded your expectations.
I also have a Lionel Atlantic but it was their first run many, many years ago. Long before Legacy and Bluetooth, this guy came with TMCC and RS2. I wonder if they both used the same tooling ?
Its an attractive engine Lee but keep an eye on the fasteners for the side rods and valve gear. If they get loose the eccentric may break and Lionel has no replacements. The eccentric is fairly fragile. This engine uses the same chassis as the original Legacy Santa Fe Atlantic from around 2007. The same chassis has been used for every Atlantic since. Why they can't can't stock that part I will never understand. I had to fabricate one for a friend just a few months ago.
I have the MTH Premier Atlantic and a Williams brass one that I upgraded. I did see this one at Henning's, and it's a good looking piece, but I figured I'd save my money for a model I don't have.
