Well, I did a second opening and screwed up monumentally ... I don't know why BUT I cut it way too big than I intended. Instead of being 1/2" X 1/4" it ended up !/2" X 5/16" or a little more. Either way, it is obviously larger than the first despite not being on the same wall.

Well, this was just a "mock up" for the real one so I guess I can't complain too much. Now I'll be able to cut the doors and windows in before I assemble it all. In other words, do it properly :)
You would surely be able to see the ends of the hoses with that cut :p

The "rebuild" of the tower is on hold for the moment due to some indecision and contemplation on my part. A little while ago, well, a few months ago I threw together a small 6' X 2.5' section of track work to test trains on while I was designing my "new layout". That little insignificant test track ended up growing into a working layout.

The long and the short of it is this -- it is going to be awhile before I can start on the "new full size layout" build so it has been suggested that I keep working on this small layout, redo the track work due to a CMS car/acetone leak on a turn out and at least be able to run trains. So that is what I am considering at the moment - is it worth putting in the work to do the track work when it will most likely ripped up in a couple of months, or do I leave it be. That is what I am asking myself.

Anyway, if I do redo the track work then I will start a proper thread for the "build" but here is what I am dealing with at the moment:
