Hi I’m new to model trains and I received a Lionel 224 engine and 2224w tender and they work fine besides when I run the tender the whistle doesn’t go off which I’m pretty sure it’s because of the type of controller I have but I was wondering what controller I can use that the train I have is able to be used with to make the whistle also sound.

What transformer are you using now? Most Lionel transformers are capable of blowing the whistle.

If your whistle does not blow, either the transformer or the whistle in the tender needs servicing.
