I am going to build a very simple layout against the wall (21'). Loops in the corners at each end and double track along the wall. No switches or crossovers. For an elegant look there will be no legs. My question is this: conventional benchwork or plywood with a frame under it?

What are you placing on the plywood / bench? If you are going to place something to damper the sound such as foam board on top of the Bench / plywood then I would go with whatever is on sale. Make sure that you can run wires were needed. If you plan on tacking anything down the plywood will cause difficulty.
