I am new here and new to model trains. I am not an enthusiast but my wife inherited a set of Lionel O gauge trains and tracks and buildings. My father-in-law asked me to see if i could sell them to someone that would be interested and show love for them. I haven not gone through all the boxes yet to find out what all i have. I just know it ran threw a couple rooms of my wife's great uncles house and when he passed no one wanted to keep the train set.

I know he invested quite a bit and would love to get these to someone that loves trains.

Ebay, but it's a lot of work. If it's that big, there are some auction houses that specialize in model train estates, can't remember the names, but shouldn't be hard to find by Google.

Trouble, generally, is that buyers of O scale in the particular
are getting fewer and belong to an older demographic. Kids today
are interested in video games, not trains, alas.

We have a For sale or Trade by members forum that is
free and available to you. The only requirements are
that you state a price ('or better offer' can be used)
and you also should state your policy on shipping and payment.

If you use the service you get best results by attaching
pictures. But, be aware that packing and the like can
be time consuming.

You could also list what you have on Craiglist. Their
Toys and Games, and also Collectibles offer trains for
sale. If there is a hobby shop near you, they may be
able to direct you to an interested party, or perhaps
offer to buy.

You would also find brokers who would offer you a
package price, no where near retail value though,
but useful to take the items off your hands.

Thank you everyone this has been helpful. I am going to start taking photos of all engines cats tracks and buildings. There is a fair amount. I just really want to make sure it goes to someone who will care and appreciate them.
