Could be fun….but I’ll never understand why they would put those huge shells as ammo for the (German 88) gun….they ain’t gonna fit through that barrel….

But, there I go again…talking prototypical…. 😁

Yep, Menards electric trains fit in the toy train category and not in the prototypical scale category. Nothing wrong with the toy train category, there are still thousands of Lionel Postwar operators in the hobby that probably purchase a lot of Menards rolling stock.

German 88 mm Anti aircraft gun….looks very similar then….too similar IMO….

And, I dare say that there way more molds for toy 88’s out there than there are for 3” or 5” naval deck guns, and Menards ain’t gonna spring for new molds, so…. :)

I went to 2 deferent store this weekend ,I was hoping to see the jeep and cannon cars , but they weren't in yet ,maybe next week
I feel like my local Menards normally gets one big shipment of train stuff sometime in October or early November, and that's pretty much it for the year other than a few things occasionally coming in. The last I looked, they had a couple of the recent boxcar offerings, but almost everything else was the same offerings they've had since February or so(just less of them) and even the track is pretty picked over. Of course this time of year it's not even out on the main level-you have to go upstairs to see it.

Really, though, if I want train stuff from Menards any time of year, I order it. It takes about a week to arrive at the local store. There's a small "pick" fee, but it's not a huge deal. It's definitely worth ordering if you want any significant amount of track, as a case of 24 sections of a given type is often about the same price as a ~15 individual sections, and I've never seen cases available for purchase on the shelf.

I’d probably talk a cheap/not valuable prewar car and swap one truck over to a postwar knuckle coupler. That would give you a “transition” car to connect newer with your pre-war trains.

Those sort of cars are common in all kinds of situations. When I was running American Flyer, a lot of my engines had link-type couplers, and I had a few transition cars with knuckles on one end. Guys who use Kadee couplers in O might have a few cars around that have a traditional Lionel knuckle coupler on one end. HO guys will sometimes leave strings of cars with the old horn hook couplers, and then have a transition car with a Kadee on one end.
