What happened to the Orange & Blue ? Opened up the shipping carton and Lionel's White & Blue was the color of the master carton for the 6 pack of Erie Mining ore cars.

Compared the Erie ore car to a Lionel ore car of 10 years ago, identical down to the number & position of rivits and detail. I am guessing it is the same tooling that Lionel has used for many years to manufacture the ore cars

Anyways the 6 ore cars were A-OK, no surprises or disappontments.

The new batch of ore cars are identical to older Lionel ore cars. Even though manufactured in different countries.

Beats me, I don't have any Lionscale unless these ore cars are now considered Lionscale. I thought all Lionscale was manufactured in the USA using Weaver tooling.

They do make a nice consist. Enjoy.

Maybe tone down the gloss on the loads for the artisan modelers.

I was at the WGH train show today and saw quite a few of the white boxes including sets master cartons. I guess times are a changing.

Eric’s trains mentioned it in one of his Christmas videos. I don’t like it, it’s another example of how Lionel is cutting costs and cheapening the product.

Bill, this packaging isn't new at all. Lionel has been using this style of packaging for almost 4 years, for their 6 packs of rolling stock, beginning with the gondola 6 packs. Continuing then with the flat car 6 packs through the current hopper and ore car 6 packs.
