just a question from a newbie....

so i have been reading a lot and came across this "DCC" thing. will it be hard or not recommended for as newbie like me to start off with these trains??? i mean if this is the future of model railroading, why not start with this already?? this is just a thought that came to my mind. what are the cons for a newbie having to start with DCC equipped trains??

thanks!

If it's prewired or equipped with a DCC plug, it would be a snap for a careful beginner to get into. The difficulty comes in converting older locos to run on it--but--once you understand the principles, demands and limitations involved...and...have a basic electrical knowledge, it really isn't to hard to pick up.

I also am new to model railroading and am gonna start with dcc , if you intend to build a layout larger than just an oval and want to have more than one train running at a time then it would be worth it

what is the most important thing to consider when going DCC? im getting mixed info when i was doing my research online and hobby stores. some people say it's really hard but others say that it makes everything simple. just don't know what to beleive...i guess i just have to try it out for myself???

try to go to a local train club or train show so you can try it out and if possible try as many different kinds as possible but if you get it the main thing is to get one you like and has the most room for expansion/functionality for your liking...I'm gonna start with the Bachmann ez command as it is the least expensive as I am gonna start small with my 4yo and if it goes well and we expand I will get a set up that will control more train.but the Bachmann set up will control 9 at a time so I'm not sure there will be need of a larger one
