I am curious to see how many hobbiest here took on the task of collecting all of the Norfolk Southern Heritage diesels.

Do you have all 20 now?

Who is your chosen manufacturer for your collection?

Did you stick to one manufacturer? Or a mix of different manufacturers?

What inspired you to obtain them all?

How long did it take you obtain all 20?

If you once had the collection but chose to sell them. What led To your decision to sell them?

Also, if you did sell them what percentage (roughly) of your investment did you get back?

I didn’t think many people had or have the collection. It’s a rare topic discussed on this forum but it’s actually a good sign to see for a collector.

It makes want to hang on to the collection even longer with the market not flooded with the complete collection. I am thinking it will probably be the same situation with the UP Heritage collections as well. I have that collection and even ended up with multiple units in that series some how.

I like unique items or special occasion items for some reason. The Veteran units, United way, CN olympics units, George Bush etc. I am ordering the Mount Rushmore this week. I have the MTH KCS veterans unit coming now.

I like a lot of the run of the mill items that are very common. There’s just something about the “non cookie cutter” versions/special editions that I really enjoy.:thumbsup:

I thought it was pretty cool when NS painted locos in the heritage schemes. They had a pretty cool CEO at the time. But I didn’t have any interest in collecting the models of them. I have pretty much stuck with a few northeastern railroads in the steam to diesel era, but I do stray from that at times. And I keep adding railroads (I just got a Suzie-Q RS-3 so now I need to get a Suzie-Q caboose.)

I would be interested to hear your answers to your own questions. Do you have them all and why, etc.?

Sure Bob!

Do you have all 20 now? I have 19 of the 20

Who is your chosen manufacturer for your collection? MTH, Broadway Limited and Athearn (genesis preferred).

Did you stick to one manufacturer? Or a mix of different manufacturers? Mix of the 3

What inspired you to obtain them all? I love NS and having the full collection as a goal to keep for many years to hand down to my kids one day. It makes a nice display/conversation piece as well.

How long did it take you obtain all 20? It has taken me about 2 years to obtain the 19 I have today. I have purchased many other engines along the way is 1 reason it has taken 2 years. I am on the prowl for that final unit now so the collection will be complete any day now. I have also collected the UP Heritage units in that same time period.
