I have been away from the hobby . I recently was going through some storage boxes and decided to work on some unbuilt wooden structure kits. What paint is being used to paint a wooden kit? I found out that Floquil paint is gone. So I am not sure what is a good Brand to use.

There is no one standard paint. There are a lot of good options these days, despite the disappearance of Floquil / PollyScale and soon ModelMaster and Pactra.

If you have never painted with acrylics, you owe them a look. Today's acrylics are fully the equal of the old enamels, and they're less toxic and more environmentally friendly. Personally, I use Vallejo Acrylics (several product lines for brush and airbrush use), as well as Microlux paints from Micromark, which are rebranded Vallejo.

The key to painting a wood kit is to use an acrylic sealant on the wood. This keeps it from absorbing too much paint and warping. Primer can be used over the sealant, followed by paint.
