so I got this Tyco ALCO c630 golden eagle from my grandpa a little over 2 years ago and I'm painting with brush's. so yeah

I think you would have better luck with a rattle can and some tape if you don't want to spring for an airbrush.

You might have an easier time “painting” stuff using trim film decals from microscale. I don’t believe they have gray, but they do have full sheets of solid white and solid black. The downside is you’d have to micro-sol the entire shell one side at a time to restore details that the decals “tent” over.
