Hello Gents sorry for the long delay..Life happens unexpectedly as we all know. I have about 20 photos to post and I would kindly ask to please let me post all the photos before comments are made. I will finish my last post and alert the community here the thread is open for discussion.

I am hopeful that this set of trains will go to a good home as I do not collect and were left to me by my parents who purchased them in the 1950s. Im looking for a fair market value which I will follow the classified rules first by getting values.

I know the set is not in the best collectable condition ..but surely for those who collect these types may still see some beauty in them.

Thankyou again for your time and patience

They are probably worth a lot less than you might think. I took a look at a few of your items in Greenberg’s pocket guide. I use Greenberg’s as a sanity check (not a bible) as far as pricing. The following Greenberg prices are for items that are in good condition. Loco 1654: $34, Loco 2065: $96, Derick 6460: $21, Dump 3469: $22, Cable car 6561: $29. As you noted, your items are in pretty rough condition so they might go for $5 to $10 each.

I would say most all of the rolling stock is what you might find under someones table for 5 bucks each. If the 2065 runs OK and the whistle in the tender works it might be worth as much as 65 bucks.
Much less if they don't work well.

The Postwar steamers and rolling stock are in pretty rough shape. You might get some nibbles if you cleaned em up and put a sale price of a $100 for all.

Hello and welcome to the site.
What part of Jersey are you in? I am in the Edison area.

I think you said in another thread that you have the milk car?
Are these pictures is all you have, or did you leave some out?
I think you said that you have milk cans and some horses?

Do you have some parts somewhere that may be in a box?
Add pictures of ALL you have, even if you think it is junk.

Like mentioned, most of them are not in pristine shape. And would need work.
Some lots of work. :)

Im in South Jersey close to Philly ..and yes I do have a milk car ...I took photos of it and dont know what happened to them. I will reshoot the milk car photos and post them soon.

I dont have horses ..but I have a few of the black cows seen on the platform that goes inside the orange cattle car.

For the milk car ..all the little metal milk barrels are still within that car.

Most importantly ..I am gratful for all the replies and the hard truth of what these are valued at. I Thankyou for that.

I would rather not sell one or two pieces at a time..but would rather get an offering price to take the cars the tracks, landscape items that were posted. I have the track control box also. ..I rather let it all go at once as I want to make space in my home which im cleaning out stuff I never touched in years.

I will post the Milk car asap when I can.
Thanks again to all who have helped :appl:

Best Regards Larry

For what it's worth, you do have two complete sets there plus some add on pieces, although in need of a lot of parts and TLC.

Set #1521WS from 1954 contained the 2065 locomotive, the 2046W streamlined whistle tender, a 6460 crane, 6561 depressed-center flatcar with cable reels, 3562 barrel car, 3620 searchlight car and the 6419-25 work caboose.

Set #1401 (or 1401W if the tender contains a whistle) from 1946 came with the 1654 locomotive, a 1654T sheetmetal tender, a 2452X gondola, a 2465 Sunoco double dome tank car and a 2472 caboose.

Hi Gents..thanks again for all your help and I wont haggle over $50 more ...its a done deal and I win extra space in my home as the trains almost went into the trash.

$500 offer? .... that could change my mind..but already these trains are devalued ( according to the posted thoughts ) due to its present condition and just glad to see them go into the hands of the hobbyists here.

There was nothing more on train related items to add to this thread except the recent posting of the Milk car. All the rest of what is being offered I laid out in my post #13

I will post my PA RR lantern in the North America forum shortly.

Thanks again Gents..you have a great forum here :appl:
