I can't figure this power connection thing out. I've bought the track(Gargrave), I've bought the controller(Legacy) I bought what I thought would power the track (180 Watt PowerHouse), but now i'm assuming I have to purchase something else as well to connect the PowerHouse to the actual track?! As a beginner, this is getting beyond frustrating. What do I need now?

Thanks for the video links. I've watched those before, but only get confused on what I actually need. I know how to connect the legacy command system to the track. I was told that a 15' X 20' layout would need additional power and the 180 Powerhouse would work for me. I purchased the powerhouse, but it doesn't directly connect to anything :dunno: Does the command system power the track?

So how or what do I need to connect my powerhouse to power my track?

If you are asking how to connect wire to Gargraves track, most people solder the wires on. I pry the bottom of the rail apart a bit between two ties, tin the wire and the rails, stick the tinned wire in and solder to the underside. Some folks solder to the side of the rails. You need to remove the black from the center rail of phantom line track before you solder.

If you don’t feel like soldering, Gargraves makes connectors. Tom C gave a link to their site. Look under Layout Building Accessories. Pick PN 911 and 912-1 for tinplate track or 909 and 910-1 for stainless. You could also use pigtails with track pins (PN 930-B for example).

Prices for Gargraves stuff is usually a bit better at Just Trains. They generally have Gargraves drop ship to customers.
