Do the yellow and black wire of the switch that powers the frog have to be connected to the same side of the same transformer that the loop utilizing the turnout is on or can you use a different transformer as a power source?

I always use a separate transformer to power the turnouts. I put no other loads on the transformers that power the track. Unlike original Lionel turnouts Gilbert has no option for track power of the turnouts nor is there any internal connection between the track and the solenoid that operates the points.

That is exactly what I thought but somebody told me not to. Anyway I'll make my wiring a lot easier. Thanks for the tip.

The advantage Lionel had with their design was when properly wired the turnouts were auto derailing. Gilberts advantage was the turnouts are auto power routing.
