the american flyer 4b is an inexpensive and powerful transformer, has lots of current across its entire range and has a built in circuit breaker that works extremely well. i have four of these, most expensive one was 12 bucks. i had to replace the cord on all of them. i use two wire extension cords from walmart as a replacement.

AH THE MEMORIES

Replacing that AC cord on the AF transformer brings back vivid memories of the old workplace. Building new equipment as well as refurbishing/repair work or incorporating modifications dictated by the Engineering Section. Has been almost 8 years retired but the memories still remain. Loved being a Solder Jockey. And no not the T Shirt company by the same name.
