If you mean making forward reverse and vice versa then just switch the wires to the motor. I'm assuming your dc only because in dcc you can reprogram the decoder. How do you reverse the engine on a 1950’s Varney Diesel electrically?

because I don’t want to change the engine position in the frame. The wire was a 30 second fix. ThanksJWW
I totally agree with the above posts but your
question caused me to wonder. Why would you
want to 'reverse the motor' in your Varney diesel?
If it is to pair it with another loco to run as a
consist, there is no need to make any electrical
changes. Just head the loco the opposite direction of
the lead loco...on a DC track both locos will
then run in the same direction. If you are
running a DCC layout, consult your DCC system
manual. It will tell you how to set the decoder
to 'think' FWD is REV.
