Bought a Scale Trains 53' container and found its latch rod was broken after opening the package. Since this item is obsolete, I wasn't able to get a replacement and decided to repair it by myself (tiny job right?). So I am wondering which type of adhesive shall I use? Any particular brand recommendations?

MEK thinner works pretty good on styrene plastics, which is most likely what your container is molded from. Put your latch rod back into position, then apply some thinner directly to the broken joints with a fine, pointed paint brush. Capillary action will suck it right in, provided the joints are tight. The thinner is watery thin and won't fill gaps. Be very careful, it's pretty powerful stuff when it comes to melting paints, decals, and most plastics.

OR. unless part can fall off, just leave it and when someone notices broken rod, say "yep some one tried breaking into container"!! ;)
