Hi

I recently purchased a Rivarossi Dreyfuss NYC Hudson for my Christmas layout. After a few laps around the small oval, My transformer shut down in overload mode. It maxxes at 17VA. I have 5 other locos that can run all day with out incident. It does run decent and I'd like to keep it, but I am concerned about dissecting it and cleaning and lubing. Like I said, its a Christmas layout and I don't run trains as much as I want. Any suggestions would be appreciated yet scrutinized.

Thank you and high ball.

That's always a good first step in troubleshooting: clean and lube the loco, and clean the track. Especially if they've been boxed up for a year.

What kind of power pack are you running?

if cleaning and lubing don't help,it may be slightly out of quarter. The valve gear needs to be "timed" correctly,or it will bind.
