This is a new Roco addition to the layout. It was first built in 1972 and was in production until 1978. It is still in service today hauling freight. When first built, it was a dual-role also in passenger service.

It will be in passeneger service on my railroad and I will be ordering the matching chromate green Era IIIc/IV 70' coaches.

It is a six axle locomotive and runs very smooth. There is a bit of gear growl because of all of the gearing as all axles are powered, but it is not overpowering. Since it does not have a sound decoder, the sound sort of fits. There are traction tires on two of the axles and this locomotive will be able to pull more cars than I can probably fit on the layout.

The consist will be limited though to four or five coaches as that's what looks best on my layout. Might push six cars since these are not 85' footers(303mm) I'll be buying.

Smooth runner and no problems.

Very nice looking. Appears to be well detailed, e.g., windshield wipers.
Do the pantographs operate? It looks like one is raised, but I can't really tell.
Great scenery and trackwork!
