With a little help from old st nick, I managed to get my hands on a Amtrak Siemens ACS-64 this holiday. I just put her on the track and it's a lively little number. Although I've barely delved into the myriad of options. I look forward to putting some amtrak cars behind it at one point, and maybe getting my hands on some other amtrak engines in the near future.

I paid $200 even which was competitive with some the online big boys. (in fact slightly better, less seasonal sales and promotions, etc...) Seems of good quality and competitive with the other brands better known for it.

If you paid for it, then Santa didn't bring it.

I don't have any catenary lines. I hadn't thought about putting any in. On the other hand, I do now have two engines with pantographs that are claimed to work. On this engine there's a little external switch on the bottom to switch it over.

It doesn't have to be live cat, just installing it makes all the visual difference in the world.
I have a few locomotives that are also changeable for track or cat power, but my cat isn't and never will be live.

I'd have to think about it. Right now I'm working on more pink foam terrain as I was pretty satifisfied with the one corner experiment I tried.

I tried to make a water feature -- and think the results are crap though.
