Hi there! I’m new here and to the hobby and I’d love to have my first train under the Christmas tree. As I’ve always been a huge fan of Agatha Christie I would like to get a set reproducing the ones from the time of her book i.e. Murder on the Orient Express - written in 1934. The action takes place in the same year on the train Simplon Orient Express. Can anyone help me with what carriages and loco did it consist of on this route and what models would be Best to get in a decent budget? Thank you in advance for all your help.

What scale are you looking for?

Also, what do you consider a "decent budget"? Based on what steam locos and passenger cars go for at good to high levels of detail, you could easily drop a grand or more just on the train.

Thanks for answers. I'm planning to spend around 300EUR so I was looking at used models as well. I saw some offers for Rivarossi at eBay but I'm a bit confused as they do look like from 30's but the description says IV epoche. I read that they started to run Venice Simplon in the 80's and used refurbished original cars. So when I buy the ones for Venice Simplom will they be the same as Simplon? I'm totally new to train models so not really sure how it all works and where to search. Is it easy to use this transformer? I would love it if the cars had lights. As for the scale H0 I guess? The N scale seems a bit small.
