WOW, some folks really have a lot of extra cash on hand. Postwar American Flyer whistling billboard that is marked rare, top bid $7,700.

That's a Foxmart billboard whistle, very, very rare. It was part of an uncatalogued set for the G. Fox & Co. department store in Hartford, Conn. as a exclusive set for their store in 1947. If you look at the brown boxcar next to it, that's the G. Fox & Co. car which sold for $9,000.00. Both are from that set and rarely come up for sale. Neither item was sold as a separate sale item. Some folks really wanted those, maybe to complete their collection.

So if 2 of the pieces of the set is worth $16,000 how much would the complete set in the boxes be worth ?

I guess whatever someone wants to pay for it. There are no reported sales of the set in any of the price guides or books that I have, so it's uncharted territory as far as a value for the set. For what its worth, there's no reported sales of the boxcar or the billboard in my guides either. Without a sold value on the complete set, it's difficult to come up with a value except what someone is willing to pay, provided one was for sale.
