Thinking about taking a ride up there next week. I don't see anything on the Strasburg RR schedule though. Any ideas on things to do and see in that area the first week of January?

Strasburg RR is running on Sunday – Tuesday next week, but closed in January. The TCA museum is open on Sunday, but also closed in January. You could stop by the Red Caboose Motel and see several. Other than that, you could see what’s open here. https://lancasterpa.com/

The Railroad Museum of PA is across the road from the depot. They are open Tuesday 9-5, closed New Year's day; open Thursday - Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 12-5. Definitely worth a visit. The Strasburg does operate freight trains on an as-needed basis. A phone call might give you some insight. Most likely diesel-powered.

The house tour includes admission to the farm grounds. At this time of yest I'm not sure the bus tours are worth it. You see the same thing just driving around the back roads.

Big train museum across the street. Don't remember the name. The restored items are inside.

We went to the RRMP. Very, very cool. Amazing that it was all inside.
